Download the USB Drivers for TXDTA10081 from the Kyocera Wireless official website:

Do not connect the USB Cable or phone to the PC until you have installed the USB Drivers first.

Driver Installation directions for KX16 Phones

Please be sure to follow read the directions completely first. Then make certain to follow the directios in order, or you may have a difficult time installing it. This phone requires installation of 2 drivers to connect. You must do them in order. DO NOT ATTACH THE CABLE UNTIL ASKED TO.

1) Create a folder on your desktop (or wherever, as long as you know the location). Call it Kyocera Drivers.

2) Download the kyocera driver from this link below, saving it to the Kyocera Drivers folder:

There are about 20 drivers on this webpage. Please find "TXDTA10084".

The file name that appears when you float over the download icon is "Kyocera_S_windows.zip"

!!-- Please unzip this driver in the Kyocera Drivers folder. Install the TXDTA10084 driver using Setup. If prompted to Continue Anyway (should ask twice), click Continue Anyway, then OK. Once installed, proceed to next step below. --!!

3) Download Driver01, saving it to the Kyocera Drivers folder as well. Unzip the drivers into this folder, but do not install yet. Connect the cable without the phone attached. Just the USB cable by itself.

Go to the Device Manager in your PC's Control Panel (Click Start, the go to System, Contol Panel, Hardware, Device Manager). Locate the cable as a device installed under 'Modems' or 'Ports'. Highlight this device and right click your mouse, then click Update Driver.

When the hardware wizard appears, Click: No, not this time, for the search online for driver update. Click next. Here, click the lower option; Install from a specific location. Click next.

The top option should be checked; Search for best driver in these locations. Make sure to un-check the box: Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM). The box stating 'Include this location in the search' should remain checked and hit the 'Browse'button and point the search to the unzipped Driver01 folder within the Kyocera Drivers folder. It should allow you to press OK to proceed. The driver will install itself. It may need to go through this process twice.

To confirm you have installed the driver correctly, check the Device Manager under 'Ports'. It should say it 'USB DATA CABLE', followed by a COM #.

When using the Kyocera Mobile Phone Tools software, please select Serial cable, not USB cable.
